William Stuursma

Mr. William Stuursma, age 100, of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Catherine. Bill is survived by his children, Myrna and Roger Mulder; Jim and Ann Stuursma; grandchildren, Michael Mulder, Jeff and Beth Mulder, Christopher and Rosario Mulder, Jamie and Laura Stuursma, Peter and Amy Stuursma, and Katie and Matt McIntosh; great-grandchildren, Bo, Dan, Lindsey, Jason, Matthew, Hannah, Robbie, Mitchell, and Lily. Bill was born in Leighton, Iowa on December 22, 1904. He was one of five children and moved to Grand Rapids as a teenager. Bill practiced as a pharmacist for Medical Arts Pharmacy for over 50 years. He served his church, Calvin Christian Reformed Church, as a deacon and as an elder. A passionate golfer, he often "shot his age" in his 80's. A Christian man, a kind man, a role model to the end; he will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel with one hour of visitation prior to the service, Rev. Harvey Kiekover officiating. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Christian School Association or the Westminster Food Pantry.
