William Paul Walsh

WALSH – Mr. William Paul Walsh age 72, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Grosse Pointe, known affectionately by his family and friends as “Paul” and by his children as “Walsh”, passed into eternal life surrounded by love on March 16, 2025. His battle with Glioblastoma came to a peaceful end. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 34 years, Katherine. He is also survived by his children Kristyn Wolfrom Hallowell, Ryan Hallowell (Maria), and Natalie Saur (Brian). He is survived by his grandchildren- the lights of his life- Aiden Saur, Brooklyn Hallowell, and Katie Rose Hallowell. His faithful companion and dog Sydney stands guard over his hearth and home. He stood for us and it was our privilege to stand for him.

He is survived by his in laws, Lynne and Peter Kuhl and Laurie Wolfrom. Paul was thankful for their love, support, and for walking with him in life and as he faced death.

He is survived by his siblings Peggy Walsh Sarnecki (Joe), Eileen Hielscher (Bill), Molly Daniel (Steve), and Kevin Walsh. He is preceded in death by his parents, William George Walsh and Annemarie Walsh (nee Wimmer), brothers Tim Walsh and Patrick Walsh, and sister in law Tina Walsh.

Paul was an honorable and hardworking man devoted to his work, his family, and his wife. He loved Michigan State Basketball and being on the water or beaches.He will be missed and his legacy of faith, love, commitment, and his fighting spirit will continue.

Service Details

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1935 Plymouth Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Visitation begins at 10 am, Mass will be held at 11 am. Refreshments will be served following the service.
