METTLER, Thomas D.

Grand Rapids, MI

Age 77, passed away October 15, 2019 with his loving family by his side. Tom was born March 9, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to the late Elsa (Armond Stimson) Mettler. He will be remembered for his work ethic, his love for radio control airplanes and his many trips on his Kawasaki Motorcyle, but especially for his love for his family. Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Trilby; daughters, Jacqueline (L.R.) Cole of Newaygo, Tracey (Tim) Tull of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Janelle and Stuart Cole, Lucas and Brodee Tull. He is also survived by his siblings, Frank (Judy) Stimson of Grand Rapids, Lois Planck of Grand Rapids; brothers in law, Roger Kaupa of Grand Rapids, Karl (Lois) Kaupa of Hendersonville, NC, John (Karyl Lynn) Kaupa of Bothel, WA, Joseph Kaupa of Grand Rapids; sisters in law, Carole Kaupa of Grand Rapids, Dolores Kaupa of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Kennedy; brothers in law, Orville Planck, Ramon Kaupa, Donald Kaupa; and sister in law, Sally Kaupa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday October 22, 2019 at 11 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2230 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Friends may visit with family on Monday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Inurnment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
