Thomas VanZee

Thomas Kent VanZee, age 71, went home to Jesus on April 26, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. Tom was born on August 19, 1953 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Central Christian High School in 1971.

Tom was a history buff and spent his spare time reading and watching “The History Channel”. He loved listening to music from the 60’s and 70’s and was an avid collector of albums. He attended Calvin Christian Reformed Church and after the morning service, he could usually be found faithfully serving coffee to seniors.

Tom joins his father, Robert VanZee and his stepfather, Fred Kamminga in heaven. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Kamminga; his brother, John Van Zee (Sue), and his sister, Nancy Breuker (Burt). He was an amazing uncle to Olivia, Grant, and Anneke and, as the family grew, he shared his love with their spouses, Dan Van Hekken, Taylor Ostrowski-Breuker, and Aaron Hahn. Many meaningful memories were made over the past 40 years with the Kamminga clan as well.

Relatives and friends will visit with the family from 10:30-11:30 with a memorial service starting at 11:30 on Monday, May 5 at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 700 Ethel SE in Grand Rapids.
