Thomas James Bentz, 30 of Scottville, affectionately known at Tom, Tommy, Tbone & Bigbird, passed away on June 30, 2025 in Grand Rapids Michigan after a lifelong battle with congenital heart disease. He was born August 16, 1994, in Ludington Michigan. Tom lived a passionate life filled with generosity and a zest for simple pleasures.

He was a 2012 graduate of Mason County Central High School, where he was a career band student; He was also active in the drama club & forensics. He furthered his education at West Shore Community College and then on to Baker College setting the stage for his career in the culinary arts. Tom loved to cook and poured his heart into it. He created culinary experiences that always brought a little spice to those around him. His passion for food was matched only by his desire to bring happiness to others.

Tom’s personality was a beacon of warmth and kindness. He loved helping others, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer words of encouragement. He was a people person.

He made the selfless decision to become an organ donor, ultimately giving the gift to help over 78 other individuals. This act of profound selflessness stands as a testament to his caring nature and his desire to leave a lasting & positive impact on the world.

He had many hobbies & interests. He loved music, fishing, hunting, camping; He loved the outdoors and the peace that came with it. He possessed a keen eye for treasures….enjoying yard sales and antiquing. He loved karaoke and spending time at the family cottage where he could get away from the chaos of life, and recharge spending time with family. He liked joining forces with his siblings, pranking his parents.

Tom is survived by his father James Bentz (Sheri Pulsipher); 3 step siblings, Randal Hansen, Brandi Pulsipher & Jacki Pulsipher (Tim Vickers). His mother Dawn Trombley & sister Annabelle Conway; His stepfather Bill Gasaway (Cindy VanTassel); His grandmothers Julie Bentz (steadfast companion & caregiver) and Charlotte Bentz. He leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.

He was preceded in death by Great grandparents James Cassan & Ethel Cassan; Great grandparents Morris E. Trombley & Emma (Trombley) Kramer; Grandfather Larry J. Bentz; Grandparents Morris (Buck) Trombley & Rosemarie Trombley; Uncle Michael (Mikey) Trombley.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity & a deep appreciation of the simple joys of life. His infectious laughter will be missed so much.

He lived life with no regrets & he would be happy to know the profound impact he has left in this world; He will be deeply missed.
