Theresa DeRuischer

Theresa Nellie DeRuischer, 100, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 5, 2025. “Home from the earthly journey, safe for eternity. All that the Savior promised, that is what Heaven will be.” Theresa was born January 2, 1925 in Grand Rapids, to the late Herman and Pauline (Sinke) Lachniet. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 76 years of marriage, Irwin DeRuischer; grandsons, Jason and Nicholas DeRuischer; son-in-law, Ralph Venema; sisters, Elizabeth, Cornelia, Margaret and Alice; brothers, Dennis, Cornelius and Herman. Theresa served the Lord and others faithfully throughout her life at Gold Avenue Chapel CRC and Westend CRC. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Theresa is survived by her children, Irwin “Buck” and Karen DeRuischer, Doris and Robert Naerebout, Marge Venema, Jim and Renee DeRuischer, Dan and Lisa DeRuischer; 33 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 11 AM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes, Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Friends may visit with her family beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to Concern International.
