CONTRERAS (Villarreal) San Juana V. Contreras age 82, of Allendale, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 28, 2023. Janie, as she was known by to many, was born in Wisconsin and raised in south Texas. She met the love of her life Jesus (Jesse) at age 15. They were married at 18 years old and lived the first 7 years of their marriage in Texas before moving to Michigan in 1967. Janie and Jesse celebrated 63 years of marriage this past March. Janie worked nearly 35 years at Grand Valley State University in the Commons Food Service. She loved spending time with her family and providing the best meals, especially her tamales during Christmas. She also loved gardening and spending time up north with her “Viejito.” Janie was the sweetest, kindest soul you would ever meet. She was always welcoming of anyone into her home, generous and willing to give a helpful hand. She will be dearly missed.
