Ruth Marie Dickerson, age 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 23, 2022. Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated in 1949 from Central High School in Evansville, Indiana. She was a resident of Grand Rapids, MI for 68 years, working in banking, becoming a branch manager with Comerica until retirement. Ruth had many hobbies including traveling and ballroom dancing. She especially enjoyed singing in her church, both in the choir and as a soloist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Dickerson and by the father of her children, Lester Lance; son Jeffrey W. Lance; her parents Donald and Marian Curtis; brother, Donald F. Curtis Jr.; and grandson Jay M. Lance.

Ruth is survived by her children Michael L. Lance of Spring, TX, Brenda Lance Malone of Houston, TX, Susan M. (Ted) Karnitz of Muskegon, MI, David C. Lance of Grand Rapids, MI, Thomas W. (Barb) Lance of Casper, WY, and Kenneth J. (Amy) Lance of Clinton Twp, MI; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild.

The service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11 AM at New Life Baptist Church, 840 Wilson Ave NW Grand Rapids, MI 49534, where friends are invited to visit with her family beginning at 10 AM. For those who wish, memorial contributions to either Harbor Hospice or New Life Baptist Church are appreciated.
