Rich is now home with the Lord as he wished. Rich was born October 22, 1932 in Grand Rapids to the late Owen and Lillian (Smith) DeVoogd. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Elene DeVoogd, second wife of 20 years, Kay Fifer DeVoogd; sister, Dorothy and brothers, Roger and David. Rich never met a stranger, and he loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. But most of all he loved his family and was a good and faithful servant throughout his life. Rich is survived by his children, Debbie (Les) Hardy, Diane (Joel) Vanden Berg, Jane (David) Lautenbach, Richard DeVoogd, Dan (Deb) DeVoogd, Joan (Eric) Spearman, Ruth (Mark) VanderBent; 20 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Doris Mayhew, Ruth Lane, Mary (Gary) Proos; the families of Kay's children, Steve, Scott, Sherr ie, Sue; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with family Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 2-4 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 1833 Plainfield Ave NE. A private family funeral service will be held and interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army or Pine Rest.
