Life Story / Obituary

Print

The decade of the 1960s ushered in an entirely new way of thinking within the culture of America. The Vietnam War was at the forefront of politics, headlines, heartache and peace movements while racial tensions soared. Young people made their voices heard through demonstrations and it seemed as if an age of innocence were being lost to the threat of nuclear war. Despite looming problems the world over, many found reprieve in the form of drive-in theaters, music of the day and beloved television shows.

In the midst of these changing times, the birth of Rhonda Ruth Pike on July 23, 1965 was cause for celebration as she was loving welcomed by her parents, Hilmar and Myrna Pike. Raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Rhonda grew up with her sisters, Debra and Sherry, along with her brother, Ross. She attended the local schools and shared close friendships throughout the years.

Before long Rhonda came to know the meaning of having her own children to love, and especially when grandchildren came into her life. Although her time with them was brief, she added to their lives simply because she lived. Sadly, at the age of 45, Rhonda passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011. For those who knew and loved her, she will be dearly missed and remembered.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her mother, Myrna Pike and is survived by her children: Tania, Zachery, Caleb, Briana and Nicholas; grandchildren: Isaiah, Nevaeh, and Rayna; her father, Hilmar Pike; sisters and brother: Debra (Jack) Folkema, Sherry (Harry) Shade, Ross Pike; her former husband, Brian Dunham; nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Rhonda will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011, 11:00 AM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home - Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to help with funeral expenses. Please visit www.lifestorynet.com to leave a memory of Rhonda or to sign her online guest book.
