Rev. Donald J Chapel

CHAPEL – Rev. Donald J. Chapel age 93, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 14, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wives, Eleanor in 2015 and Beverly in 2024; brother, Chuck (Grovene) Chapel; and sisters-in-law, Nancy King, Pat Ploeg and Millie Ploeg. Don is survived by his daughters, Keren (Al Lamba) Chapel, Suellen (Randy) Hadley and Denise (Michael) Smith; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers-in-law, Dale King and Daniel Ploeg Sr; and several nieces and nephews. Don served his Lord faithfully as a pastor at churches in Matewan, WV; Harrison, MI; Edmore, MI; Marne, MI and Portland, MI. After retirement, he served as an interim pastor for several years at local churches. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Berlin Baptist Church, 14141 State St. Marne, MI. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM until the start of the service.
