Rena Amash, age 90, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away with her loving and supportive family by her side on June 26, 2026. Rena was born in October of 1935, in Beit Sahour, Palestine, to the late Khalil and Nijma Abuaita, who preceded her in death. Rena was also preceded in death by her husband, Milad Amash; her stepdaughter, Violet Brailey; her sister, Badeh; and her brothers, Wadeh and Fouad.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Wafa Amash, Sana Amash, Gus (Rima) Amash, and Hana Rhodes; and her stepchildren, Jeannette (Dan) Centille, Toni Zurzola, George (Susan) Amash, Renee (Jimmy) Jaber, and Sami Amash.

Also surviving are Rena’s grandchildren, Brandon, Bryan, Sean, Camillia, Tevin, Kalah, Xandria, and Alex; her step-grandchildren, Yolanda, Erin, Tony, Nicole, Khader, Christina, Christopher, Samantha, Sommer, and Sammy; her great-grandchildren, Alayah, Bryson, Amariah, Naliyah, Oliver, Sean Jr., Tevin Jr., and Travis Jr.; as well as sisters Souad and Mariam and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Rena will be remembered for her strength, determination and the matriarch of her family who she deeply loved and cared for.

Rena’s family will visit with friends on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Saint Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2250 East Paris Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, also at Saint Nicholas Church. Rena will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rena’s name may be directed to the MDS Foundation.
