Rachel is survived by her former husband, Lyn Nelson; her children, Elliot (Erika) Nelson, Whitney (Alex) Mathews, Emily Nelson, Poppy Nelson, and Sawyer (Emily) Nelson; her granddaughter, Stella Nelson; her step-grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Kelly; and her sisters, Leah and Sarah Kleinman.
A woman of faith, Rachel valued her relationship with God and found joy in Bible study and spiritual reflection. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening, cooking, drawing and creative projects, fashion, and the art of finding a good deal. She especially loved time spent near the water.
A private service will be held on Friday, February 13. Rachel will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery.
