Life Story / Obituary
Through the life she lived each day Pauline Bosch made a significant impact in the lives of so many within her reach through her kindhearted and gentle touch.
Pauline’s story began during a decade that was cloaked in hardship due to the unrelenting grip of the Great Depression. She was the third of four girls born to her parents, Albert and Susan (Miedema) Bosch, on April 23, 1930, in Holland, Michigan. She was raised in the family home alongside her older sisters, Ann and Angelyn, and her younger sister, Barbara. Pauline’s father was a welder while her mother worked in a glass factory. She attended Pine Creek Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Holland Junior High, and Holland High School.
After graduating from high school in 1948, Pauline went on to Mercy Central School of Nursing for three years. As a newly graduated registered nurse she secured employment at Memorial Hospital in St. Joseph where she remained for 20 years. From there Pauline began working as a clinic nurse for Wolverine World Wide where she remained until she retired after 18 years of dedicated service.
In her free time Pauline enjoyed pursuing her interests. She loved to travel and did so often with many friends and her sisters, too. Pauline traveled extensively throughout the United States including to Alaska and Hawaii in addition to traveling many places abroad like Russia, Ireland, Europe, Africa, and Australia. She was into genealogy and traced her family roots all the way back into the 1700s. As her friends and family can attest, Pauline got so excited about finding great deals and was an avid coupon clipper. In addition, she was an huge Tigers fan and played the piano as well.
Life became more difficult for Pauline and her loved ones when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this past June. The cancer had already metastasized throughout her body leaving little that could be done. It was surrounded by her family just a short time later that she drew her last breath with her family by her side.
Pauline Bosch will be remembered for her spirit of generosity and unending thoughtfulness toward those around her. She treasured the time she spent with her loved ones and was a woman who was content in all things. Pauline will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
