Patrick Baar

Patrick Barr, aged 74, of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Barr; brothers, Jim and Barry Barr; grandsons, James Swanzy and Rogelio Saenz. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Barr nee Karel; daughters, Terri Swanzy, Shawn (Jerry) Harding, Tracy Worfield and fiance, Ron Laskowski, Julie Saenz, Brigitte (Jack) Thomasma; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry (Shelly) Barr, Fred (Karen) Barr, Brian Barr; sister, Bonny (Frank) Spaak, Colleen (Gordon) Van Putten, Hannah (Larry) Barcheski, Shannon Krutel; sisters-in-law, Iris Allen, Pat (Brian) Drake; also several nieces and nephews. Pat had a career as a teacher and a coach at Central High School, and an administrator for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. He served on the Grand Rapids City Commission during the 1970's. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was also a passionate U of M fan. The funeral service will be held Monday 11 AM at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 134 N. Division Ave. with Rev. Val Ambrose officiating. Burial will be in Fairplains Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller N.E. at Three Mile Rd.
