Myrna Ann (Lynch) Price was a gentle yet determined soul, remembered for her caring heart, genuine warmth, and subtle humor. Admired by those who knew her, she approached life with humility, faith, and a steady devotion to serving others. She was the type of person who would offer a kind word just as readily as a playful prank, leaving everyone feeling both comforted and delighted by her presence.

Born on March 5, 1935, during America’s Great Depression, Myrna embodied the resilient spirit of the era. In Port Huron, Michigan, where her father Glen worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad and her mother Lucille kept house, Myrna learned the value of faith and fellowship at Griswold Street Baptist Church—values she would carry her entire life.

As the middle of three children, Myrna nurtured her love of music with piano and organ lessons, even attending Interlochen Arts Camp to hone her talent. She graduated from Port Huron High School in 1952, having worked part-time at Dr. Carpenter’s chiropractic office, and then spent three enriching years at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Traveling by train from Port Huron to the bustle of downtown, she found her academic footing while holding tight to the spiritual grounding she treasured.

Eventually, Myrna transferred to Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, to pursue a degree in Education. It was in the college dorms that she met Nathan Price, a football player who immediately recognized her radiant spirit. Early in their courtship, Myrna’s sense of humor shone when she presented Nate with what appeared to be Hershey’s chocolate but turned out to be soap coated in chocolate—leaving him sudsy-mouthed yet hopelessly charmed. The couple married on August 10, 1956, at Griswold Street Baptist Church, honeymooning in Niagara Falls and Toronto to mark the start of their enduring partnership.

For a time, the newlyweds stayed in Upland while Myrna finished her studies and Nathan taught in a country school. They then moved to Warren, Indiana, where she taught high school English for two years before settling in Montrose, Michigan. Myrna served as a substitute teacher, balancing her early teaching career with a blossoming family that included three children, two of whom were adopted. She was known as a mother who combined gentle affection with clear expectations, maintaining a tidy home and ensuring that guests never went without comfort. Never one to sit idly, Myrna often found herself juggling full-time work at a church office with the demands of parenting and homemaking.

In later years, Myrna became the steadfast secretary at North Park Baptist Church, guiding multiple pastors through day-to-day operations and stepping in seamlessly during pastoral transitions. Her music skills further enhanced worship services, where she accompanied choirs, cantatas, and special events on both piano and organ. A devoted prayer warrior, she embodied a humble yet unwavering faith, sharing her spiritual gifts through fervent prayer and practical support alike.

Summers found Myrna and her family at their cherished cottage on Piatt Lake in the Upper Peninsula. For nearly six decades, these vacations were defined by swimming, fishing, and carefree laughter. Despite her usual aversion to cold water, Myrna famously learned to water-ski at 50, delighting neighbors as she even tried slalom skiing. But once she tired of chilly waves, she gracefully retired from the sport, having proven both her mettle and her boundless enthusiasm for adventure.

Every holiday brought formal dinners and lively gatherings, with Myrna gladly bustling about to serve her guests. A devoted puzzle and game enthusiast—particularly fond of crosswords and Scrabble—she approached both challenges and companionship with patience and good humor. People who crossed her path often described her using words like “integrity,” “servant,” “talented,” “devoted,” “humble,” and “authentic,” testaments to a life lived in genuine faith and kindness.

On February 26, 2025, Myrna passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan, leaving behind her beloved husband of 68 years, Nathan, their children, grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends. Even in her final days, she offered guidance, comfort, and reassurance, reflecting the same unwavering spirit that shaped her life. Those who remember her will find small reminders everywhere: the notes of a church organ, the laughter shared over a family meal, or the whisper of wind across a cold lake. In honoring Myrna’s memory, may we strive to emulate her gentle humor, determined love, and heartfelt devotion in the days to come.
