Morton G. Jr. (Mort) was born to Morton & Luella Zylstra, the 1st of 4 children on 11/1/42. He peacefully returned to Heaven on 3/11/23. Mort attended Straight St. Elementary School, graduated from Wyoming High School and Olivet College. He also attended CMU. Mort married Judy Poorman and had 2 children, Wendy and Gary. He worked at Goodyear, taught and coached at Pine River Schools, (this was the career he loved with all his heart), he was a supervisor @ Kent Foundry and worked at Rothbury Farms. Mort was an avid reader, loved doing puzzles, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, and attending gospel Music Concerts. Most recently he looked forward to Thursdays when he went to coffee with the neighborhood guys and played cribbage with friends. Mort was a member of Orchard Hill Reformed Church and during the winters in Florida attended Fair Haven Baptist Church. Mort was preceded in death by his parents, his little brother Danny, his wife Judy, his beloved son Gary and his precious stepdaughter Linda Verhey. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Ruth Ann Zylstra (Emelander/Longoria), his daughter Wendy (Larry) Chatigny, brother Tim, sister Jan (Charlie) Clark of Sitka Alaska, stepson Dave Longoria, son in-law Dave Verhey, sister-in-law Bonnie Stefans (Dan Solmonson), brother-in-law Mark (Jenny) Emelander, 8 grandchildren and spouses, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. We would like to especially thank the wonderful doctors and nurses in the ICU at Blodgett Hospital for the wonderful care these past 3 weeks. You've been a Blessing!
