EILERS (Vertz), Mia Lynee Eilers age 54, of Grand Rapids, passed away on December 4, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Vertz; and mother, Mona (Randall) Vertz-Hugo. Mia is survived by her siblings, Michael (Chris Moore) Vertz, Michele, (Kyle) Hillman, Mona (Pete) Wojtas, and Marcia (Bram) van der Ploeg; nieces and nephews, Blake (Amy) Vertz, Adam Vertz, Heather (George) Golliver, Andrew (Kelly) Hillman, Jessica (Tyler) VanReed, Evan Hillman, Hunter Wojtas, Harrison Wojtas, Fisher Wojtas, Rembrandt van der Ploeg, and Madelaine van der Ploeg; several grand nieces and nephews; and boyfriend, Dave Seif. “To so many, she was known as Aunt Mia, and she played a special role in all of her nieces’ and nephews’ lives. From giving them unique nicknames to getting lunch with them, she showed them all just how much she loved them. She was their biggest cheerleader and always boasted about them on Facebook. Mia was a resident at The Villa Maria where she made many wonderful friends. She was a proud member of Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians and the Red Hat Society. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home – Alt and Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday at the funeral home and on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Contributions in her memory may be made to American Diabetes Association.
