Mary H. Cadwell, 1930-2006. Mary Helen Cadwell, age 75, of Idlewild, formerly of Sparta, died May 29, 2006. She was born on August 13, 1930 in Blind River, Ontario, Canada to Ivan and Clara Belle (Jacques) Hicks. She worked for General Motors as an upholstery seamstress and retired in 1984 after 18 years of service. She was a member of the V.F.W. Peacock Post 5315 and the AMVETS Post 1988 Ladies Auxiliaries. Mary is survived by her children, Sandra "Sam" (Terry) Smith of Somewhere, USA, Wally (Marian) Cadwell of Sparta and Bruce (Susan) Cadwell of Idlewild; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her long-time companion and friend, Loren Crysler and his family, Alan (Sis Bartlett) Crysler of Baldwin, Brian (Char Bacon) Crysler of Grand Rapids, Ruth (Brian) Swiers of Kent City; siblings, Esther (George) Wilson of Empire and Patricia (Mike) Ostrander of Grant, and Dan Hicks of Lansing; a brother-in-law, Glen (Jean) Cadwell of Newaygo; a sister-in-law, Maggie Hicks of Lansing; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jack Hicks; a brother-in-law, Lester Cadwell; and sisters-in-law, Barb Hicks and Mickey Cadwell. Visitation, Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m., Verdun Funeral Home, 585 7th Street, Baldwin. Funeral Thursday, June 1 at 12 Noon.
