Life Story / Obituary

Print

Mark Randall Johnson, 74, entered his heavenly home with his family at his side, March 5, 2026. Mark was born in Grand Rapids, January 10, 1952 to the late Carl and Patricia (Rossman) Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Scott Johnson. Mark had a vast mechanical mind and a depth of knowledge enabling him to repair things without the assistance of the YouTube videos, like the rest of us rely on. Fixing, building, and getting projects to 85% completion came easy to him. Mark retired after 27 years from General Motors. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his “Boy”, Nick (Jenny) Johnson; step-children, Audrey (Cutter) Phillips, Tim Astras, Paul (Melissa) Astras; grandchildren, Josh, Samantha, Nikki, Eli, Logan, Alex, Addison, Skylar, Savannah, and Kaden. Mark is also survived by his sister and brothers, Devon (Ollie) Ising, Curt (Anne) Johnson, Carl (Sherry) Johnson, Chris (Melany) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 2510 Richmond St. NW. Friends may visit with Mark’s family on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes, Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW and beginning at 10 AM Thursday at church. A rosary and time of sharing will be held Wednesday beginning at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
