Life Story / Obituary
Marjorie Jeltema, age 89 of Grand Rapids, MI, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Jim Jeltema, her second husband Fran Bolthuis, her parents Jacob and Grace Landstra, her sister and brother in law Phyllis and Jake Toorenaar, brother in law Herm Grooters, sister and brother in law Helen and Ken Booth, brother and sister in law Bob and Ruth Bruner.
Surviving are her children; Elleen and Tom Fitzgerald, Mark and Jill Jeltema, Paul and Jodi Jeltema; her grandchildren; Lindsey and Mick Force, Melissa and Brandon Peters, Lisa Fitzgerald, Rachel and Dave Bacon, Staci Jeltema, Devon Jeltema, Abigail and Jordan Harkema; her great grandchildren: Macy and Jackson Force, Felice and Lennox Peters, Charoltte, Millie and Waldon Bacon. Also surviving are her sister Donna Grooters, several nieces, nephews, and her very special friend Sharmaine Branagan. Marjorie’s family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Rest Haven Homes and Emmanuel Hospice for their loving and care for Marjorie.
Marjorie was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. She attended Creston High Schools graduating in 1954. Marjorie married her longtime sweetheart in 1955, Jim Jeltema, together they setteled on the NW side of Grand Rapids. Many things provided Majority with joy, however most of all were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marjorie enjoyed chrocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family at her cottage in Pentwater MI. Marjoie had a special place in her heart for people with special needs she has served for many years in the Go Getters group at Calvary Church.
A service to remember Marjorie will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, Van Strien - Creston Chapel, 1833 Plainfield N.E., at 2:00 PM. Marjorie’s family will meet with friends from 1 PM to the start of the funeral at the funeral home, with a time of visitation and sweets to follow. Memorial contributions in Marjorie’s honor may be directed to Emmanuel Hospice.
