Life Story / Obituary

Print

Marilyn Elaine Stuart passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2024, at the age of 91. Marilyn was born on April 28, 1933, and was preceded in death by her parents, Clarabelle and Orrie Smith. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Fran Sund.

She will be remembered by her son Terry (Michelle), and her grandchildren Truman, Garrett and Meredith, her great friend Angela Morse as well as her nieces Peggy Covello (Sund) and Linda Sund, and nephews Gary Sund and Steven Sund.

After graduating from Union High School, Marilyn moved to Texas with her then husband Larry for a brief stint as an Army wife before moving back to the west side of Grand Rapids to start a family. She lived briefly on Covell street, then onto Lancaster before settling into an apartment at Leonard and Remembrance where she lived for almost 45 years.

Marilyn faced many challenges in life which would have posed a roadblock for most, but Marilyn didn’t let these challenges limit her. Her determination to be independent and her strength to be independent was an inspiration to her family and to those who met her. She also had a great sense of humor which had her laughing more often than not, even the silliest of jokes. It’s these wonderful traits of Marilyn that will be missed most.

Marilyn will be laid to rest with her parents during a Graveside Service in Rosedale Memorial Park in Tallmadge Township, Michigan on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Marilyn to Trillium Woods Faith Hospice, (8214 Pfeiffer Farms Dr SW, Byron Center, MI 49315).
