Margery Livingston Dickinson

October 29, 1940 - May 2, 2026

Marge Dickinson went to her eternal home on Saturday, May 2, 2026. She was baptized and grew up in First Congregational church of Rockford, MI, trusted Christ as her Savior, and joined Rockford Baptist Church in 1956.

A 1958 graduate of Rockford High School, she held a B.S. in education from Taylor University and taught in the Waterford Township school system. Marge spent her summers as camp counselor and water safety instructor at what is now Pine Ridge Bible Camp in Cedar Springs, MI. She joined BCM International Mission in 1965, serving in Union County, N.J., Tannersville and Spring City, PA, Democratic Republic of Congo, Upper Darby, PA, and later in Sparta, Rockford, and Grand Rapids while caring for her parents. During her 15 years in Congo, she also served with Africa Inland Mission. Marge loved teaching Bible to children and training others to do so. In 1983 she earned an M.A. from Wheaton Graduate School and was licensed as a psychologist in Pennsylvania and Michigan. After serving in Africa she counseled and encouraged missionaries and helped provide Bible-teaching materials for churches in Congo.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents Beryl and David Livingston and by her brother Richard Livingston. Survivors include her husband, The Rev. Dr. Hugh Dickinson; three step-children: Gretchen (Jeffrey) Trimble of St.Louis, MO; Craig (Michele) of Buffalo, NY; Michael of Pasadena, CA; and six step-grandchildren; as well as cousins, friends, co-workers, and church family.

A memorial service will be held at Rockford Baptist Church on Wednesday May, 20 2026 starting at 11:00 AM, Marge’s family will greet those attending from 10:30 to the start of the service. Marge’s cremated remains will be interred in the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s memorial garden, Grand Rapids.
