Marc Versluis

Marc Henry Versluis, age 69, passed away unexpectedly at home, October 17, 2026. Marc was born November 26, 1957 in Grand Rapids, to the late Frank and Lydia (Grau) Versluis. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William Pietri. Marc was a successful architect for many years, specializing in commercial projects and businesses. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. Marc was very artistic, intellectual and will be remembered as gentle and kind. In his later years, his struggle with mental illness limited his activity, but he never lost his kind, caring and considerate ways. Marc is survived by his sister, Denise Pietri; brother, Max Versluis; nephews, Karl Pietri, Jason Versluis and Thomas (Brandie) Pietri; great niece, Olivia; and many cousins. Marc was introduced to Orlando Delacruz, a young man from the neighborhood, who quickly became a very significant addition to his life. Orlando became like a son to him and they bonded quickly and closely. Orlando and his children, Nevaeh, Arionna and Orlondo Jr, will all miss their dad and grandpa very much. Marc is also survived by his special pet companion, Loca. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 11 AM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes, Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Family and friends will begin visiting together at 10 AM. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park.
