Leroy Herman Terheggen, aged 90, of Florence, OR went straight to Heaven on April 12, 2006. Roy will be remembered as a loving, giving man who had a smile for all he met. His family always came first, and what a family he had. He was the father of 11 children and a friend to all. Roy met the love of his life (Dorothy) in Los Angeles in 1939 and they wed. Their marriage lasted 66 years until his death in April. Roy always gave of himself and besides his huge family gave to so many others. He was the #1 Dodger fan and any child who could fit on the church bus was in for a treat. His belief in God was evident in all he did and taught his children. He worked for Helm's Bakery for many years and retired from Aerospace Corp. after 25 years. A harder worker could not be found. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Ann Lee of Colorado Springs, CO and his eleventh child, Elizabeth, who died as a baby. He leaves behind a great legacy of giving and his children, Carol Foreman and husband, Bob of Denton, TX, Doris Matthews of Sun Valley, ID, Gene Terheggen and partner, Michelle of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Alger and special friend, Dave of Florence, OR, Susan Smith and husband, Fred of Redding, CA, Mark Terheggen of Gainesville, FL, David Terheggen and wife, Margo of Scottville, MI, John Terheggen and wife, Brenda Maria of Grand Rapids, MI, Joe Terheggen and wife, Julie of Mears, MI; as well as 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A greater man none of us will ever know. We love you Dad! Condolences may be sent to Terheggen Family, 6150 Bagel Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. TERHEGGEN - Dorothy M. (Blackwell), aged 86, went to join her husband of 66 years, (Roy), in Heaven on October 28, 2006. Dorothy was a wonderful mother with the strongest faith imaginable, and lived her life as a true Christian. Dorothy was an avid gardener who would grow a weed into a thing of beauty. She was a fearless woman and woe to many a rattlesnake that wandered into her garden. She tried to instill in her children her deep faith and compassion for all. She gave to others and no matter what their state or stature. A homeless man outside of church was just another potential convert or friend. She lost her husband, Roy, in April and longed to join him in heaven along with her two daughters, Ann Lee of Colorado Springs and her baby, Elizabeth. Dorothy leaves behind her children, Carol Foreman and husband, Bob of Denton, TX, Doris Matthews of Sun Valley, ID, Gene Terheggen and partner, Michelle of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Alger and special friend, Dave of Florence, OR, Susan Smith and husband, Fred of Redding, CA, Mark Terheggen of Gainesville, FL, David Terheggen and wife, Margo of Scottville, MI, John Terheggen and wife, Brenda Maria of Grand Rapids, MI, Joe Terheggen and wife, Julie of Mears, MI; as well as 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and the many friends and strangers whose life she touched. Dorothy always said obituaries were like that person had only that, but for those who knew her we could not write enough words to express what a great mother, friends and person she was. We miss you Mom! Condolences may be sent to Terheggen Family, 1650 Bagel Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508
