Leonard J. Osterink, age 90, of Naples, Florida and Grand Rapids, Michigan, went on to his eternal home on April 11, 2006. He was born in Grand Rapids on March 16, 1916, to Martin and Eva Osterink and lived there until he moved to Naples in 1976. He is survived by Janice, his life-long friend and wife of 68 years, their four children, Larry (and Marcia), Bruce (and Sue), Linda (and Cal Pratt) and Jane (and Jim Gaertner); 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandsons. After receiving his degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University in 1938, he joined his father in the family construction business, Osterink Construction Company, where he worked until he retired in 1976. He lived a life of service to others. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a supply officer aboard APD 136. He served his university on its Athletic Council, Alumni Board, and Development Fund Board and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1969. He served his industry on the Boards of the Grand Rapids Builders Exchange and the Associated Builders & Contractors. He served his community as President of the Grand Rapids Optimist Club, President of Cascade Hills Country Club (Grand Rapids), President of Royal Poinciana Golf Club (Naples) and as a Board Member of the Y.M.C.A. (Naples) and the Naples Athletic Club. And he served his God as a member of the Session of Eastminster Presbyterian Church (Grand Rapids) and First Presbyterian Church (Naples). He valued his family, his friends, hard work, integrity, and commitment. He passed those values on to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will miss him until they see him again in heaven. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 18, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church of Naples.
