Life Story / Obituary
Leonard Jay DeVisser, age 75, of Allendale, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Len was born December 13, 1949, in Kalamazoo, MI, to Abraham and Catherine (Drenth) DeVisser. Len was united in marriage to Patricia VanDenTop on May 17, 1974, in Rock Valley, Iowa. The couple lived in northwest Iowa, where Len taught at school and they raised their family before moving to Allendale, MI. Here, he enjoyed working with and being with his family. Len is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat; children, Leah (Bill) Remijn, Kevin (Sue) DeVisser, Trent (Virginia) DeVisser; grandchildren, Andrew Remijn, Lauren Remijn, Daniel Remijn, Rebekah Remijn, Melanie (Andy) Wubbeling, Tyler DeVisser, Felicia DeVisser, Kylie DeVisser; and great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Rhett. Also surviving are his siblings, Arnie (Alyson) DeVisser, Bev (Bill) Staal, Connie (Dan) Phillips, Kathy (Wes) Knollenberg, Ruth (Dave) Anson; in-laws, Tom Stryd, Jim (Herm) VanDenTop, Jay (Joy) VanDenTop, Milt (Deanne) VanDenTop, Karen (Bob) VanZweden; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanne DeVisser and Nancy Stryd. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Netherlands Reformed Church, 1255 Covell Ave NW. Visitation with his family will be held on Monday, July 7th, from 5-8 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes, Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Burial will be in Rosedale Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Plymouth Christian School Capital Fund.
