Kevin Moore was a creative man who wasn’t afraid to take a risk with his ideas. He was a genuine friend with a gentle spirit and compassionate heart.

On December 10, 1951 Edward and Carol (Klinkner) Moore, of Grand Rapids, Michigan were blessed with the births of not one, but two sons, one of whom they named Kevin. Kevin was of Scottish descent and was one of seven children in his family. He grew up on Richmond St., located the west side of Grand Rapids, where he attended West Catholic High School for a few years before he transferred to Union High School and graduated a bit later.

It was evident when Kevin was very young that he had a genuine passion for the great outdoors; he loved to hunt, but fishing was his favorite activity by far. He spent many hours during his childhood with a rod in his hand and he sometimes even made his own rods and tied his own flies. Later in life, Kevin’s love for the outdoors extended to include scuba diving, treasure hunting, and bow hunting.

Kevin was very creative and had an entrepreneurial spirit; he could come up with an idea, turn that idea into a product, and then market it. This spirit led him to start his own business, Bird-Eez, a bird and supply store.

His birds played an important role in Kevin’s life, especially Pattycake and Moe. They provided wonderful companionship for him and they were like part of the family to Kevin. Each morning he would greet his birds, to which they returned the greeting.

When he wasn’t busy working in his own store, Kevin worked for Meijer in the audio visual department for a number of years where he created, recorded, and edited film and photos. Later in life, Kevin worked for Visual Workplace where he worked in shipping and receiving.

By nature, Kevin was a quiet person who generally kept to himself, but he cherished the friendships of a few genuine friends.

Kevin R. Moore of Solon Township passed away December 28, 2008. Kevin’s family includes his mother and step-father Carol (Bill) Moore-Spruit; his siblings Dennis and Tina Moore, Marge and Daren Quigel, Tim Moore, Jeff and Vicky Moore, Mark and Lynn Moore; his beloved birds Pattycake and Moe; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and by his twin brother, Mike. Cremation has taken place.
