Jane Keim (DeRuiter), age 99, went to her eternal home on October 21, 2010. Jane’s life was marked by an abundant faith, a deep love for family, wonderful friends, joy in the simple gifts of life, and a generous hospitality for all. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Jane grew up in Falmouth, MI, and came to Grand Rapids to pursue a career in nursing. She worked for many years in St. Mary’s emergency room. She was a longtime member of East Leonard Christian Reformed Church where she found great joy leading a Bible discovery group.

Jane is survived by a daughter, Brenda and Keith Doornbos; son-in-law Terry Kooienga, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ben and Liz Doornbos (Noah, Jacob), Sarah Kooienga, Stacey and Amanda Doornbos (Ruby, Jonah), Matthew and Jacquelin Kooienga (Savannah, Hailey), Adam and Elaine Kooienga (Vienna), Kelsey and David Tilley, and Emily Kooienga; 2 sisters, Arlene Mains, Norma and Don Vander Werf and a large number of nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elwin and a beloved daughter, Barb Kooienga.

A gathering in celebration of Jane’s life and faith will take place at the chapel of Raybrook Manor (Holland Home) on Saturday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation with family will follow the service.
