Kathryn Steiner Bignall went to be with God on Wednesday, August 23. Kay was born in South Bend, Indiana, April 28, 1922 to Ernestine (Fox) and Charles Steiner. She was valedictorian of her high school class and graduated from the University of Michigan. She started teaching in East Grand Rapids and then met and married her best friend and love of 60 years, C. Rexford Bignall. She is survived by her husband; her brother, Col. Charles Steiner; her four children, Rebecca Kay Grams (Jay), Roberta Rae Spink (Tom), Rashelle Ann Kamp and Rexalyn Dee Baker (Dean); as well as 10 loving grandchildren, Tobin Foryt (Kristi), Sara Foryt, Aaron Spink, Kyle Kamp, Kathryn Kamp, Kali Spink, Korrie Kamp, Gregory Baker, Robyn Spink, Jenna Baker; three great-grandchildren, Kolby, Taiden and Preston, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (Steiner) White. Her family will remember her with love as an accomplished and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. After raising their family in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kay and Rex moved to the Phoenix area 31 years ago. Kay was best known in Grand Rapids as a teacher, past president of the Kent County Medical Auxiliary and an independent business owner. Throughout her years in Phoenix, she taught ESOL to adults, was president of the State of Michigan Club, President of the local chapter of American Association of University Women, Directress of the Alter Guild for All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church, Convener of the Order of St. Luke, a member of the Stephens Ministry and a friend to many. A memorial service will be held on December 28th, 2006 at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church, 9502 W. Hutton Drive, Sun City Arizona 85351. In lieu of Flowers contributions to the Church memorial fund can be made in her name
