Karen Buttermore

Karen Buttermore, 83, of Holland, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. She was born on February 15, 1943, in Muskegon, the daughter of Leo and Tressa (Palmer) Buttermore. Karen graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1961 and later retired from the former Muskegon Piston Rings. Following her retirement, she continued her work as an electrologist from her home.

Karen was an avid and talented gardener and seamstress. She took great pride in her gardens and enjoyed the creativity and care that went into her sewing. She also had a special love for her furry companions throughout the years, including Buggy, Meaty, Peppi, Corkie, Suzi, and Joey. One of her favorite pastimes was taking Joey to the channel, where she enjoyed watching the boats pass by and spending time reading.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Tressa Buttermore; and her brother, Donald Buttermore.

She is survived by her nieces, Bari and Kendall; and her special friends, Barbara Carlson and Sarah Spiece.

A service celebrating Karen’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Evergreen Mausoleum in Muskegon. Arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, Van Strien Creston Chapel, 1833 Plainfield Ave. N.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
