HAAN (GLUPKER) Julia DeHaan, aged 92, of Grand Rapids, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Holland Home Fulton Manor. For nearly 67 years, Julia was a loving wife to Bernard DeHaan. She was a devoted mother to children, Stan and Joanne DeHaan, Shirley (deceased) and Henry VanSledright, Betty (deceased) and Paul and Anna Kamphuis, Helen and Russ Brinks, Julie Horn Alexander and Bob Alexander and Mary (deceased) and Gregg and Rose Dykstra. She enjoyed the love, energy and accomplishments of her 19 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. A joyful Christian, her family, friends and caregivers will miss her wonderful sense of humor as well as her courage and faith. Julia is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Nellie Glupker and Gatha Howerzyl, both of Jenison, and many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Dorr Township, Julia was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Sena (Tien) Glupker, and brothers, George (Gertie), Bert (Mary), John, and Harold (Sadie) Glupker; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sikke and Elizabeth DeHaan, Charles and Gertrude Mulder, John and Della Dornbos, Ted Howerzyl, Jim and Jean Howerzyl, Gerrit and Jennie DeHaan, and Bud DeHaan. A resident of the Holland Home Fulton Manor for the past 10 years, Julia was a member of the Cutlerville East Christian Reformed Church. Family and friends will celebrate her life at a funeral service at 10 AM Saturday, December 10, in the Chapel at Holland Home Fulton Manor, 1450 E. Fulton, Grand Rapids. The service will be officiated by Rev. Harvey Kiekover, Holland Home Chaplain, and Pastor Dave DeHaan (Grandson), Harvest Bible Chapel, Elgin, Illinois. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of the staff of Holland Home Fulton Manor, Breton Manor, Van Andel Pavilion, Hospice of Holland Home and St. Mary's Hospital for their loving and wonderful care. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or to Cutlerville Christian School or Jews for Jesus. The family will meet with relatives and friends Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Stroo Funeral Home and Saturday from 9 to 10 AM prior to the service at Fulton Manor.
