Jerry DiTrapani, aged 84, of Jenison, was called to the "Big Ballroom in the sky" on Sunday, December 11, 2005. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny and daughter, Theresa. Jerry started cutting hair at the age of 16 and in 1946 opened Di Trapani's Barber Shop on Diamond and Fulton. He served in the 9th Army Air Force - 86th Squadron from 1941-1945. He was a charter member of Rental Property Owners Association, a life member of the American Legion Carl Johnson Post #2 and the VFW Post #3023. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy and the Moose Lodge #763 in Wyoming. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Betty Lou; children and grandchildren, Joseph Harrison and Jenni Laidman of Toledo, OH, Jerry Jr. and Dee Dee DiTrapani (Alexandra, Danielle) of Spring Lake, Mark DiTrapani (Sharayah, Jessica, Felicia, Mark II) of Grandville, David DiTrapani of Jenison; brother, Tony and Dolly Trapani; sisters, Jenni Pellerito, Arlene and Ray Schulte; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Connelly, Eileen Perpich; many loving and dear nieces and nephews, Connie, Kathy, Vicky, Yvonne, Al, Brian, Brittany, Lauren, Kelly, Alan, Caitlin, and Emily. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3939 Wilson, Grandville with Fr. George Darling Celebrant. Interment Graceland Memorial Park. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grand Rapids Home for Veterans or God's Kitchen.
