Mrs. Jeane Vargas (Franklin) died peacefully in her bed on October 15th in Kentwood, MI at the age of 79
Jeane is survived by her sister Connie Burden of Tower, Michigan. Her 6 children Debbie and Ray Logan, Francis Church, Pamela and Dean Sawicki, Adam and Doreen Church, Susan Rivera, and Brenda Church. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren James and Chris Carey, Ben Logan, Cicily Church, Stephanie Church, Sarah Ortiz, Joseph Sawicki, Brendalee Church, Samantha and Abigail Rivera and her great grandchildren Andrew Logan, Carlos Church-Ferrer, Aiden Ortiz, Liberty and Riven Logan, and Madison and Journi Carey. Jeane is preceded in death by her mother, Eva Decker and father, James Franklin.
Jeane was born on October 27th in Onaway, Michigan to James and Eva Franklin. She married Francis Church. Jeane began working for different restaurants as a cook. Soon the couple welcomed 6 children into their home and Jeane transitioned into a homemaker. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Jeane was accomplished at culinary arts and often you could not find a better conversationalist. Jeane was a very social person who always had a smile on her face made an effort to welcome all those who would come to her home. Later in life Jeane was solely referred to as grandma because she showed the love and compassion only a grandmother does to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing this kind women, not just her own family. She was a witty individual who loved her growing family and who was passionate about ensuring they were happy and loved. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Later-Day Saints.
A memorial is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20th 2:00 pm at Grace fellowship with a reception to follow at 735 Buth Dr. NE, Comstock Park, 49321. Pastor John Campbell will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeane’s life.
