Jashaun Morgan had the immense pleasure of always looking on the bright side of life. He lived his life with great hope found in the simple moments of spending time with his friends to quiet time spent focusing on his future. Jashaun’s life modeled accepting all people with compassion. He leaves behind a collection of special memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

The year 1996 brought about many technological changes. The world of home movie viewing grew with the start of DVDs, the number of internet users expanded to more than ten million, and the Nintendo 64 gaming console was released in June. Jashaun Kelrick arrived as the firstborn to his loving parents, Antoan and Keli (Carson) Morgan on Friday, January 12th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Later, he was joined by his younger brothers, Treyvon and Jomari. A happy baby who was always a good sleeper, he brought instant joy to the family home.

Jashaun enjoyed his childhood growing up with a tight-knit group of friends. His education began at Eastern Elementary School before arriving at Riverside Middle School and Wellspring Academy. He later graduated with the Class of 2015 from Northview Alternative. During these years, he enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball, basketball, and football. Known for his easygoing personality, Jashaun always had a smile on his face. He was very protective of his younger siblings and they were exceptionally close. The three of them often played ice hockey at the local pond and enjoyed swimming and fishing in the warm summer months.

After high school, Jashaun worked a variety of factory jobs. As a young adult, Jashaun enjoyed fishing with his pops, watching anime movies, listening to music, and creating a vibe. After his father died in 2022, he enjoyed the peacefulness of heading out to go fishing remembering the times that he and his father fished together. He was always looking for new ways to make money and provide for his girlfriend and her two daughters. Recently, he worked as a Hi-Lo Operator for a medical sales company. In his free time, Jashaun also enjoyed cooking his favorite dishes such as ribs, roast, and spaghetti. He was very proud to have recently perfected his late father’s special spaghetti recipe. Jashaun held family closest to his heart, like a badge of honor. Jashaun enjoyed the company of his many nieces and nephews. This new generation of family made Jashaun even more focused on goals, setting good examples, and moving in a positive direction. He savored his close relationships with his Nana, Granny and Pap Pap, as well as his Aunts Devon, Beth, Tammy and Traci. Jashaun spent much of his time working and caring for his family. His unconditional positive regard for others as well as his gentle and kind-hearted nature will be greatly missed by his many special friends and loved ones. May they always feel his gentle spirit and find comfort whenever they are gathered together. May his warm memories burn brightly in their hearts forever.

Jashaun Kelrick Morgan was called home to be with the Lord tragically on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the tender age of twenty-eight. Jashaun and his courageous spirit were a gift from God from the very beginning. He was a beacon of light that guided his young parent’s path and gave them renewed purpose in this life. Jashaun was enthusiastic about the life he lived, and the example he set, and was determined to make his family proud.

Jashaun was known to be universal like his father and have a kind heart like his mother. These two characteristics afforded him incredibly special bonds and relationships that lasted his lifetime. Although Jashaun was known to be the life of the party, he also enjoyed being a loner at times. He was good at taking advantage of downtime, reclused to his room, and focused on his next moves. He would always say, “It’s all about balance, sometimes you need to let your energy out into the world and sometimes you need to keep it for yourself.”

Jashaun was a member of Pilgrim Rest Church, for a brief time. He worshipped in this church with his family where he was baptized after accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior. Jashaun is preceded in death by his father, Antoan R. Morgan. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his mother, Keli L. Morgan, brothers; Treyvon D. Morgan and Jomari A. Morgan, his significant other, Nicole, and two bonus children; Zoey, and Victoria. Also surviving are his grandparents, Cathy J. Carson, David L. Morgan, Sandra M. Morgan, Dale A. Carson, and Louise Miller, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Lamb of God Church, 57 Rena St SW Grand Rapids, with family hour starting at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with his family from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home – Van Strien Creston Chapel, 1833 Plainfield Ave NE.
