James Clingan

James Wilson Clingan, age 92 of Grand Rapids, passed away August 9, 2023. He was born on December 10, 1930 in Pontiac, Michigan. Jim grew up in Mayfield, near Traverse City. He then served as a medic in the Army during the Korean War. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Wilson Clingan; his mother, Elizabeth (John) Hoard; wife, Mary, in 1993; and by his brother, Frank, in 2012 and his infant sister, Ida Mae Clingan. Jim is survived by his sister-in-law Patricia “Pat” Clingan; nieces and nephews Cynthia (Michael) Ashton of Mystic, CT, Tamara (Robert) Coffey of Lowell, and Bradford Clingan of Traverse City; great-nieces and great-nephews Sean Ashton, Alyssa (Anthony Robinson) Coffey, Andrea (Bradley) Griffith, Robert F. Coffey.

Jim enjoyed visiting his family as well as the sights in nearby Traverse City. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at Barnum Cemetery in Mayfield, Michigan on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 1 PM.
