Life Story / Obituary
Jack was born on August 21st, 1943 to his proud parents James and Velma McIntosh. He was their fourth child. He had two older sisters and an older brother; Jeanie, Joyce and Jim. He lived in Clawson most of his life and attended Clawson schools where he had many very good friends.
In 1961 Jack joined the Navy reserve and after his graduation in 1962 he went on active duty. He was assigned to the S.S Rehoboth. He managed to come back from two tours in Vietnam which he spent on the Da Nang River as an engineman. He was very proud of his country and all of his fellow servicemen.
When he returned he began working for General Motors Corporation, Chevrolet Motor Division. He started as a mechanic in the quality control garage and retired as an area service representative for Chevrolet dealers. Jack was employed by General Motors for Forty years. Jack also volunteered as a reserve officer on the Clawson Police Department for many years. He also volunteered shortly with the Kent county Sheriff’s Traffic Squad.
In 1964 he became the proud father of his daughter Kathleen and in 1967 had a son, John. He met his wife Twila in 1971 and in 1977 they married and combined their two families. He then became the proud dad of three more daughters; Cherie, Bonnie and Michelle.
Jack and Twila had thirty five great years of marriage. In their thirty five years they lived in Clawson, Birmingham, Alabama, and the Grand Rapids area.
Jack was very proud of his nine grandchildren; John, Bethany, Amber, Kristin, Alexis, Maddie, Josh, Brady and Max.
Jack enjoyed restoring classic cars and flying RC airplanes. He loved old tractors and his real love was being a pilot. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He had a big soft spot in his heart for animals and always helped those in need. He loved all of his pets but he especially loved his dog Joey.
Jack was a wonderful husband, dad and the best grandpa there could ever be. There will always be an empty hole in our hearts that he filled with his loving nature.
He enjoyed getting to know everyone and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed!!
