ROSENDALL — Mr. Henry Fredrich Rosendall, age 81 of Grand Rapids, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4 with his three children by his side. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Barbara Jean (Highhouse) Rosendall, parents Henry and Freda (Jonkman) Rosendall, brother-in-law Mel De Stigter, in-laws Dietrich (Betty) Roth, whom Fred considered his brother. He is survived by his children Jeannine (Ray) Lanning, Jacqueline (Brian) Noordewier, F. Dean (Angela) Rosendall; grandchildren Jessica (Oro) Enaohwo, James (Katie) Slagter, Taylor (Taylor) Asfour, Megan Noordewier and fiancé Brendan VanHouten, Jacob Noordewier, and Jacqueline Lanning; great-grandchildren Maddox and Besida Enaohwo, Henry and Joanna Slagter, and Jamison Asfour; his three siblings Ruth (Sam) Alward, John (Sharon) Rosendall, and Elaine De Stigter; brother-in-law Sidney (Jill) Hoogerhyde; nephews and nieces Robert (Marcy) Roth, Christine (Jeff) Gillman, Stephanie (Kyle) Carlson, John (Beth) Rosendall, Amy (Kevin) Soodsma, Philip (Desiree) Rosendall, Steven (Neely) Tamminga, Carrie (Miguel) Flores, Jonathan (Melissa) Tamminga, Martha (Chris) Martin and Kimberley Hoogerhyde, cherished cousins Chuckie and Ellie Roodvoets, many beloved and dear friends, including special friend, Barbara Jean Smith. He was a proud member of the Army National Guard, serving his country in the 60’s and was honorably discharged in 1968. Fred was born the third child of four to Henry and Freda Rosendall, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he spent his youth, graduating from West Side Christian and later Grand Rapids Christian High. He and his father, Henry, ran Rosendall Disposal together until Fred and his cousin Henry bought the business. He and Henry remained close friends throughout Fred’s entire life. He had a sense of humor that we all cherished. Even in his final days, Fred made us smile and laugh. He faced cancer head on, always courageously. Through his strong faith, he kept a positive attitude while battling five different cancers over nine years. No amount of words can adequately express how deeply missed he will be. He daily showed his family how to be resilient, work hard, face life’s challenges head on, be loyal, and how to love others and the Lord. Visitation will be held at Seventh Reformed Church, 950 Leonard St. NW, on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 12:30-2:00PM with the funeral service immediately following. Private interment at Rosedale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Edison Christian Foundation.
