Greg A. Wabeke

Greg A. Wabeke, aged 62, of Cascade Township, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Greg was born in Kent City, MI on May 14, 1943, the son of Cornelius John and Eva W. (Garlinger) Wabeke. He graduated from East Lansing High School and from his beloved alma mater, Michigan State University, where he received his MBA Degree. Greg was involved with commercial insurance sales in Grand Rapids for many years prior to purchasing the Travel Dimensions Travel Agency of Cascade Township, which he owned and operated for the past 17 years. He was a member of Cascade Christian Church. Greg was a sports enthusiast and a faithful follower of MSU football and basketball. He also enjoyed playing the piano and organ, but his greatest love was the time he could spend with his family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Carol (Shobbrook) Wabeke; three children, Todd Wabeke of Grand Rapids, Kathryn and Bret Bumgardner of Grand Rapids and Ryan Wabeke of Lake Tahoe, CA; two brothers, John Wabeke of Lansing, MI, Jerry and Judie Wabeke of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral Chapel where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
