Gerald Edwin Sims

Gerald Edwin Sims, age 63, of Goshen, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2007. He was born June 2, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was formerly employed at Tenneco Manufacturing in Elkhart, IN. Gerald married Beatrice S. "Bea" (Grover) Rakowski on May 27, 1978 in Lowell, MI. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association in Goshen and enjoyed riding his Gold Wing Motorcycle. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice S. "Bea" Sims of Goshen, IN; four sons, Mark Sims, Steve Sims, Gary Sims, Chad Sims of Grand Rapids, MI; two daughters, Kathleen Sims of Grand Rapids, MI, Karrie (Gary) Maurer of Rockford, MI; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; mother, Bernadean Sims of Grand Rapids, MI; one sister, Patricia Ryan of Grand Rapids, MI; two brothers, Larry Sims of Grand Rapids, MI, Ron Sims of Grand Rapids, MI. Gerald was preceded in death by his father and two sisters. Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday (January 13, 2007) at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main Street in Goshen, IN. Elkhart Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Clair Hochstetler, Chaplain at Goshen General Hospital, officiating. Visitation 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services.
