Mr. George Russell Bergsma, aged 77 of Coopersville, MI, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, February 27, 2020. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI in the summer of 1942 to the late John and Isla Bergsma. Along with his parents, George is preceded in death by his sister Karen Bentley and brothers Keith and Marvin Bergsma. George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynn Marie [Poley] Bergsma and their children Jamie (Jake) TenBrink, Rebecca (Zack) Onan, and Mark Bergsma; Grandchildren Cody (Sara) Bos, Megan Bos, Wyatt Bulthouse, Nicole Bos, and Justin TenBrink. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-laws, Harold (June), Dale (Sue), Dave (Raquel), John (Jean), Wayne Bentley, Betty Bergsma, Geri (Ken) Elzinga, Micky (Jim) Wagner, Jon (Barb) Poley, and Jeff Poley and many nieces, nephews, and friends. George proudly served 6 years in the National Guard. He never “retired” from truck driving. A Memorial service to celebrate George's life will be held on Monday March 2 at 11:00 AM at Standale Baptist Church, (3714 Lake Michigan Dr. NW) with Pastor John Watson officiating. Visitation prior starting at 10:00 AM.
