Evelyn Ekkens

Evelyn Ruth Ekkens, age 91 of Grand Rapids, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2024. Evelyn was born August 13, 1932 in Grand Rapids to the late Albert and Esther Antonides. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Ekkens and her brother, Allen Antonides. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother always providing a safe and secure home for her family. Her servants heart extended beyond her home as she selflessly served others in her church, schools and community throughout her lifetime. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Michael (Cindy) and Mark (Susan); grandchildren, Dustin (Abby), Nathan (Angela), Erin (Joe) Rivard, Kristen (Kyle) Wartella, Jacob (Molly) and Brett (Sophia); 13 great grandchildren; and her brother, Gordon (Bobbi) Antonides. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will be held. Interment will be in Fairplains Cemetery. www.heritagelifestory.com
