Evelyn A. Lehnert, aged 85, of Sand Lake passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Lehnert was born July 13, 1920 in Comstock Park, MI, the daughter of Henry and Abbie (Momber) Zimmer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edgar, in 1999. She was a longtime and active member of Mary Queen of Apostle Church, Sand Lake. She was an avid gardener and provided the flowers for Mass at church. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and a 50 year member of the Ensley Grange. She grew up a farmer's daughter and enjoyed being a farmer's wife. Surviving are six children and their spouses, Richard and Elaine Lehnert of Trufant, Elaine and Paul Pietrzyk of Plymouth, Judith and George Monroe of Dearborn, Donald and Betty Lehnert of Sand Lake, Edgar Lehnert of Hersey, Diane and Gary Mock of Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Ahren, Matthew, Marc, Kate, Ellie, Cliff, Matthew, Anne, Donovan, Dustin and Valerie; a sister, Agnes VanOeffelen of Comstock Park; a brother, Robert and Lilly Zimmer of Comstock Park; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Viola Finkler. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters and Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com where a church Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. and a family Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Mary Queen of Apostle Church. Rev. Fr. Joseph Kenshol celebrant. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Sand Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
