KOZLOSKI, ELAINE 7/15/1928 - 10/27/2023 Grand Rapids, Michigan Elaine Marie Kozloski, 95 of Grand Rapids MI, devoted daughter of God, died Friday, Oct 27, 2023 Elaine was a prayer warrior dedicated to a daily Rosary (w/ Mother Angelica on EWTN) and lover of the Eucharist. We believe her constant prayers protected her many loved ones, keeping them walking with Jesus, as she was eternally grateful to God for her family that she referred to as her greatest blessings. A quiet and humble woman, Elaine would always say “I don’t have the gift of gab” but she showed her love and affection for others through her actions and generosity, leaving everyone she met with a “God Bless”. She was a member of the Secular Franciscan order who seeks to observe the Gospel of Jesus by following the example of St. Francis of Assisi through the virtues of poverty, chastity, and obedience. St. Francis is the patron Saint of ecology and animals, and Elaine dearly cherished all animals, especially dogs! She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and later St. James for many years. She also spent much time at St. Isidore (where she spent countless hours praying in the wee hours of the night in the Adoration Chapel). She was proud of her Polish heritage and up until her mid-80s loved to host holiday gatherings with abundant food, always including kielbasa, golumpki, sauerkraut and homemade pies aplenty. She is survived by son James (Suzanne), their daughters Beth (David) Truskowski (Hannah, Jason) and Lisa (Mark) Walkendorf (Laura), and daughter Mary (Joseph) Sedlecky and their sons Justin, Benjamin (Kelly) (Tenley, Veda, Ruth), Elliot (Ashlee) (Ellenor, Iris, Larkin), Samuel (Nicole) (baby due in Feb), and daughter Emily. Also surviving Elaine are special cousin Betty Sruba, nieces Amy Anderson, Laura (Don) Dobrzelewski, Kunecki nieces and nephews Dawn, Shawn, Monica, Matt (Lisa), and Jeff, and Kozloski nieces and nephews Steve, Stan (Mary), Donna Thomas, Elaine Tsialafos, and Edmund Kozloski, and special friends Dorothy Deja and Joyce Lieffers. Visitation Sunday, Oct. 29 at Heritage Funeral Home on Plainfield from 2-5pm, (Rosary at 4:30 w/ Deacon Dan Esch). Mass of Christian burial 11:00am Monday, Oct. 30 (w/ visitation 1 hour prior) at St. Jude Church on 4 Mile Rd. w/ Monsignor Ed Hankiewicz and Father Ayub Francis. Elaine’s family would like to thank Green Acres of Standale and Careline Hospice for their time and compassion, Fr Chris Epplett for giving her Last Rites, and for all those who were praying for her during her last two weeks on earth. Donations to Amazon Relief or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Elaine’s honor and memory would be appreciated. She was endearing to everyone she met by exemplifying genuine kindness, gratitude, and love. Thank you, Mom, for showing us how a true Christian should live. We will miss you, but know you are with us in our hearts forever.
