Edith Rashewsky

Edith (Altman) Rashewsky, of Grand Rapids Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. Edith was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Rashewsky, her son Mitchell Rashewsky, daughter Shelley Knape, daughter-in-law Karen Rashewsky, and sister Ethel Birnbaum. Edith is survived by her daughter, Lisa Rashewsky (Dorothy Berg); her son- in-law Thomas Knape; grandchildren Joseph Knape (Sabrina Mussari), Stephanie Jesin (Mark), Sarah Talboys (Charlie), Jennifer Cohen (Abe), Michael Knape (Arminda); her nine great-grandchildren; and her sister Sylvia Pachter as well as many, friends and other relatives. Edith and Melvin owned and ran clothing stores in the Grand Rapids area: Mitchell’s Young at Heart and Breton Village Apparel. Edith has been a lifelong and faithful member of Congregation Ahavas Israel. Edith’s funeral will take place on Friday January 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Ahavas Israel Synagogue (2727 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506). She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
