Mrs. Duane Agnes Thompson, aged 73, of Byron Center, formally of Grandville, after a long battle with kidney failure, passed April 10, 2006. She will be deeply missed by her husband of almost 50 years, Ted; her children and grandchildren, Tom and Sue (Danielle, Emily, and Brenna), Terry and Kelly (Dylan, Jonah, and Ian), Tim (Nicholas, Benjamin, and Samantha), Todd and Barb (Sara and Shae); her brother Greg Bockheim and his wife Jackie; her sister, Arlene "Pinque" Veach, and many nieces and nephews. Duane was a graduate of Marywood Academy and went on to graduate from Mercy Central School of Nursing. She taught orthopedics at Mercy Central, then went on to become Night Supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital for 27 years as an RN with a BS degree. At 53, she went to Aquinas College, received her degree in criminal justice, and became Director of Probation for the 59th District Court for 10 years. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2006 at St. Pius X Church with Father George Darling presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Grandville chapel of Cook funeral Home (4235 Prairie - West Building). Rosary will be recited 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
