Dr. Frank Hoffmeister, age 81, of Grandville passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 and is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leona (Dyer) ten years ago and now joins her in Heaven. Dr. Frank was a foot doctor and practiced the art of Podiatry for 55 years on the Northeast side of Grand Rapids. He was the podiatrist for the elite of Grand Rapids as well as the humbled. Everyone was the same in his eyes and were treated as family, a trait he passed on to his son, who joined him in practice in 1987. He was a Veteran of WWII, and as such, never forgot his brothers in arms. For approximately 20 years he donated his time and services for the care of the residents at the Michigan Veterans Facility. Dr. Frank was a highly spiritual man and practiced J.O.Y., Jesus, Others, You. He was a humble man and always placed himself last, and never spoke ill of anyone. One recurring comment by his patients is "he is a good man, a great guy." He deeply touched the lives of many, making them better. For this we are thankful. Family was important to him and influenced his choice in a medical profession that allowed for time with his family. He taught good Christian values, not only with words but by the way he lived. His life and his family was truly blessed. He is survived by a daughter, Lynne (Floyd) Ahlen-Wright, R.N. of Wylie, TX; his sons, Dr. Martin G. (Teske) Hoffmeister of Rockford and Mark A. Hoffmeister of Miami; grandsons, Bryant LaSalle, Benjamin and Timmer Hoffmeister all of Grand Rapids; his sister, Donna Daly of Grandville; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Mackey, Paulette (Jack) Newberry, Iva Jean (N. Peter) Smith, Nina (John) Singletary; brother-in-law, George Dyer; aunt, Georgia Cumings and several nieces and nephews. He and the family would especially like to thank the sisters-in-law that provided special care and comfort the last weeks of his life, we are truly grateful. Memorial Sevice will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Cook Memorial Chapel, (4235 Prairie, Grandville - East Building). Visitation one hour prior to service.
