(Cedar Springs) Mr. Don P. Strope, age 52, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006. At Bay City Central High School, he received many awards and medals as a varsity swimmer, graduating in 1972. Shortly after, he enlisted in the US Air Force as an air cargo specialist, and has since been active in the American Legion Merritt Lamb Post #102. Although well drilling was his occupation, riding his motorcycle with the Legion Riders and fishing were his pastime joys. He is survived by his daughters, Brook Nusz of Okeene, OK, Sumer Ebben and Skye Cox, both of Grover, CO; his mother, Mrs. Joanne Strope of Bay City; his brothers and sisters, Paul Strope of Ada OK, Robert Strope of Bay City, Daniel Strope of Rockford, Margaret and Terry Nestrick of Midland, William and Nancy Strope of Airway Heights WA, and Melissa and Ken Davert of Bay City; his very special friend, Kristin Rathbun of Cedar Springs; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Strope. A prayer service for Mr. Strope will be Friday, August 25, 2006, at 6 p.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 607 E. South Union St., Bay City, MI 48706, with Father Steve Gavit presiding. Those desiring an expression of sympathy may consider the American Lung Association. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford, MI
