Dolorine Vainavicz

Dolorine Rita Vainavicz [Orlowski], age 94 of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2024 while at her residence at Villa Maria Retirement Community.

Dolorine was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the spring of 1930 to the late Ignatius and Theresa (Jendriasiak) Orlowski.

Along with her parents, Dolorine is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William B. Vainavicz who passed away in 1999 as well as by her infant twin sons Benedict and William, infant daughter Barbara and her brother Bob and sister Joan Horrigan. She is also preceded in death by her brother and sister in-laws Rosemary Orlowski, Ed Horrigan, Ben Vainavicz and Don Vainavicz.

She is survived by her children Linda (Scott) Levan, Judi (Dan) Mason, Chris (John) Ritzenhein, Tony (Sherri) Vainavicz and Connie Vainavicz and her 9 grandchildren

and 13 great-grandchildren as well as her brother in-law Rev. Anthony Vainavicz, sister in-laws Julia Scheid, Rae Marie Vainavicz and Karlene Vainavicz.

Dolorine was a graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School and long time member of Holy Spirit Parish. She enjoyed her work with the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce as well as being a member of the Garden Club, going to the casino and spending time with her special “gang” of lifelong friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Parish, (2230 Lake Michigan Dr. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504). Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Church.

Dolorine will be laid to rest next to William during a family graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dolorine’s family would like to express their appreciation to the Care Team Hospice and Happier at Home caregivers, especially Mary, for the compassionate care bestowed upon Dolorine.
