David Lee Holtzlander, age 81, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Corewell hospital surrounded by his family. David was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on March 4, 1944, the son of Hoyt and Wanda Holtzlander. He was preceded in death by his parents Hoyt and Wanda Holtzlander; his son Jeffrey Holtzlander and his daughter April Holtzlander; his siblings: John Holtzlander, Doyle Holtzlander, Wanda Holtzlander, Bud Holtzlander, and Bob Holtzlander. David will be missed by his children: Michelle McCoy (McDonald), Michael McDonald, Denise Mattson (Holtzlander), Adam Holtzlander; along with several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his siblings: Linda Eckelstafer (Holtzlander), Nella Svboda (Holtzlander), Jim Holtzlander, Tom Pace, and Lori Petty.
We knew that this time was coming, but David was not ready to be done living his life here on earth. He was a fighter to the end, and sadly fell to lung disease. He will be remembered for his free spirit, love for the ladies, obsession with the need to watch the local news, and his crossword ‘scratch off’ lottery tickets. It brought him immense joy to gift his children and grandchildren with tickets in hopes they would win big.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025 - 2pm, at Grand Valley Community of Christ Church: 4790 Jacob St, SW, Wyoming, MI 49418.
